What’s The Best Exercise for A Woman in her 50’s?

I get asked this ALOT! As we age there are some things we need to consider as women.

There is no one “best” exercise for a 50-year-old woman as it depends on individual fitness levels, health conditions, and personal preferences. However, some exercises that are generally recommended for women in this age group include:

  1. Cardiovascular exercises: Cardiovascular exercises such as brisk walking, running, cycling, or swimming can help improve heart health, increase endurance, and burn calories.
  2. Strength training: Strength training exercises such as weightlifting or bodyweight exercises can help increase muscle mass, improve bone density, and improve overall strength and balance.
  3. Yoga or Pilates: Yoga or Pilates can help improve flexibility, balance, and core strength, while also reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
  4. Low-impact exercises: Low-impact exercises such as water aerobics, elliptical machines, or cycling can be gentler on joints while still providing a good workout.

It’s important to start slowly and gradually increase the intensity and duration of exercise as fitness levels improve. It’s also important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any new exercise program, especially if you have any pre-existing health conditions or concerns.

The best exercise is the one you’ll do. No one ever complained about getting fitter and stronger.

So get out you seat and jump around!

See you on the mat!
