Where Does Motivation Come From?

Hello When I speak to folks, they think that motivation will hit them one day, and they’ll suddenly find all the energy to do all the things required to be fit and healthy.

But it doesn’t work that way…

Motivation comes from action, so you have to do the action first to get the motivation. Not the other way around!

Here are some of my top tips for getting yourself into action;

1. Get the Power of Micro-Workouts: I get it—your schedule is packed! Consider breaking down your exercise routine into bite-sized, achievable chunks. Sneak in 10-minute workouts throughout the day, whether it’s a brisk walk during lunch, a quick stretching session in the morning, or dancing to your favourite tunes in the evening. If you can’t do 10mins do 5mins, or even 1 min.

2. Make It a Social Affair: Combine socialising with exercise by inviting friends or family to join you. Turning exercise into a shared activity makes it more enjoyable and ensures you’re staying connected while staying active.

3. Prioritise Self-Care: Remember, self-care isn’t selfish—it’s vital to your overall well-being. Schedule your workout sessions as you would any other important appointment. Treat exercise as a non-negotiable part of your routine, just like a meeting or a deadline.

4. Explore Fun and Engaging Workouts: Ditch the traditional gym routine if it doesn’t resonate with you. Try out various activities until you find what you genuinely enjoy—be it dance, yoga, swimming, or cycling. It won’t feel like a chore when you love what you do.

5. Seize the Power of Technology: Take advantage of fitness apps, online classes, or workout videos that cater to your schedule. Many platforms offer short, effective workouts designed for busy individuals. You can bring the gym to your living room with just a smartphone or tablet.

6. Build a Supportive Community: Connect with like-minded women facing similar challenges. Share your triumphs and setbacks, and let the collective encouragement propel you forward. A supportive community can be a powerful motivator on your fitness journey.

7. Incorporate Movement into Daily Tasks: Integrate exercise seamlessly into your daily routine. Opt for stairs instead of the elevator, do squats while waiting for your coffee to brew, or stretch during TV commercials. Every little bit adds up!

Remember, this is a journey, not a sprint. Celebrate every small victory, and be kind to yourself on days when time slips away. You’re worth the investment, and your well-being is a priority.
