Showing Up for Yourself and How To Do It

Showing Up for Yourself and How To Do It

This week I want to talk to you about showing up for yourself.

I get SO many folks saying that they’re not happy with various parts of their body, their lives or their jobs – but then equally they’re NOT doing anything about it!

I know from personal experience how awful it is to be stuck in a job you hate, it made me ill. I know how demoralising it can feel to be gaining the pounds of fat, increasing dress sizes and not being able to stop it.

You feel like you’re stuck, but the reality is you’re anything but.

The main thing I’m noticing is that you are showing up for everyone else, but YOU’RE NOT SHOWING UP FOR YOURSELF.

Showing up for yourself involves actively prioritising your own well-being, growth, and happiness. Here are some ways in which it might manifest:

  1. Self-care: Regularly engaging in activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional health, such as exercise, meditation, hobbies, or spending time with loved ones.
  2. Setting Boundaries: Recognising your limits and asserting boundaries to protect your time, energy, and emotional space. This could involve saying no to things that don’t align with your priorities or values.
  3. Self-reflection: Taking time to reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and being honest with yourself about your needs, desires, and areas for growth.
  4. Self-compassion: Treating yourself with kindness and understanding, especially during times of difficulty or failure. Practicing self-compassion involves acknowledging your humanity and accepting yourself as you are.
  5. Goal-setting: Setting meaningful goals and taking steps to work towards them. This could involve personal or professional goals, and it’s important to break them down into smaller, manageable tasks.
  6. Advocating for yourself: Speaking up for your needs, desires, and rights, whether in relationships, at work, or in other areas of life. This might involve asking for help, asserting your opinions, or advocating for necessary changes.
  7. Personal growth: Actively seeking opportunities for learning, growth, and self-improvement. This could involve reading books, taking courses, seeking feedback, or stepping out of your comfort zone.
  8. Embracing authenticity: Being true to yourself and living in alignment with your values, beliefs, and passions. This might involve expressing yourself honestly, pursuing your interests, and surrounding yourself with people who accept you for who you are.
  9. Practicing gratitude: Cultivating an attitude of gratitude and appreciation for the good things in your life, no matter how small. This can help shift your focus away from negativity and foster a more positive mindset.
  10. Seeking support: Recognising when you need help or guidance and reaching out to trusted friends, family members, or professionals for support. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Ultimately, showing up for yourself means making yourself a priority and taking intentional action to nurture your own well-being, growth, and happiness. It involves treating yourself with the same kindness, respect, and care you would offer others.

I can see so many people NOT doing these things.

These things will transform your life – they absolutely will, but you’ve got to do the work.

I’m still lifting my weights – I’m on week 5 now and I can feel and see the differences it’s making. My legs are growing (in the right places), my shoulders are growing and I’m craving meat! There are so many times when I’ve looked at my kettlebells and thought – ‘I really don’t want to lift you today’ – but I’ve shut off that part of my brain and JUST DONE IT.

Next week I’ll give you my top tips for dealing with the internal saboteur!

Plus, we’ll be looking into all these archetypal energies and Goddess energies in Wisdom Well. Not sure if I told you, last week I ditched my original plan and am building a better version – it’s being rebirthed before its actual birth!

But it’ll be fab once I launch it.

In the meantime I’ve set up a new Instagram and Facebook Page for Wisdom Well, please give them a follow.
