How To Improve Your Mindset With Mantra’s, And How To Write Yours

How To Write A Mantra

Hi

I’m back from my holidays well rested and full of cake! Life is all about balance right?

I’m always full of good intentions for when I’m off, I always think, I’ll get up at 6am, meditate, write, stretch, eat healthy….what do I actually do? Lie in bed as much as possible, eat cake and generally do as little movement as possible! 😀

The best of intentions, eh? I’m sure I’m not alone in this.

But, it was lovely to get back to classes last night, banishing the sluggishness with a Barre class followed by Pilates – that’s enough to clear the cobwebs!

One of the things I do everyday, is I speak a mantra. I mentioned it in one of my newsletters previously and I had a few of you asking about it, so here’s my short guide to mantra’s and how to use them.

Jill’s Guide to Mantra’s

Mantras are short phrases or words that are repeated during meditation or as part of a spiritual practice. They are often used in Hinduism, Buddhism, and other Eastern religions, but they can also be used by anyone seeking to find inner peace, clarity, or focus.

The primary purpose of a mantra is to quiet the mind and focus the attention, allowing the practitioner to enter a state of meditation or contemplation. By repeating a mantra, the mind can become more still and focused, and the practitioner can experience a sense of inner peace and relaxation.

In addition to their use in meditation, mantras can also be used to cultivate specific qualities or virtues. For example, a mantra might be used to develop compassion, patience, or wisdom. By repeating the mantra regularly, the practitioner can internalize these qualities and embody them in their daily life.

Overall, mantras can be a powerful tool for spiritual growth, personal development, and stress reduction. They can help us connect with our inner selves and find peace and clarity amidst the challenges of everyday life.

How to Write a Mantra

Writing a mantra is a personal and creative process, and there are no fixed rules or formulas for creating one. However, here are some general guidelines that you can use to create your own mantra:

  1. Keep it short and simple – Mantras are meant to be repeated easily, so keep your mantra short and simple. It should be easy to remember and repeat.
  2. Focus on the present moment – A good mantra should help you focus on the present moment and bring you back to the present when your mind starts to wander. Consider using words like “here” or “now” in your mantra.
  3. Use positive language – Use positive language to frame your mantra. For example, instead of saying “I am not stressed,” say “I am calm and peaceful.” This helps to focus on what you want to cultivate rather than what you want to avoid.
  4. Align with your intentions – Consider what you want to cultivate in your life and create a mantra that aligns with those intentions. For example, if you want to cultivate gratitude, your mantra might be “I am grateful for all that I have.”
  5. Make it personal – Your mantra should be personal and meaningful to you. It can be helpful to reflect on your values and beliefs to create a mantra that feels authentic and resonates with you.

Remember, there is no right or wrong way to create a mantra. The most important thing is that it feels meaningful and helpful to you. Experiment with different words and phrases until you find one that feels right.

How Often Should You Speak Your Mantra

The frequency with which you speak your mantra is up to you and depends on your personal preference and needs. Some people prefer to repeat their mantra several times a day, while others may use it only during meditation or when they feel the need to calm their mind.

If you are using a mantra during meditation, it’s generally recommended to repeat it for at least 10-15 minutes at a time. You can repeat the mantra silently or out loud, whichever feels more comfortable for you. You may also choose to repeat the mantra throughout the day as a reminder to stay focused on your intention.

Ultimately, the frequency with which you use your mantra will depend on your personal goals and needs. It’s important to listen to your body and mind and adjust your practice as needed to find the frequency that feels most beneficial for you.

I recently completed a 44 day Ganesh Mantra – that I had to repeat 108 times per day – it took my around 10 mins each day – I did it whilst in the shower.

Mantra’s do really focus your mind and improve your mindset – so if you are struggling with keeping on track with your healthy lifestyle or your want to embed a new habit – creating a mantra might just be the subtle shift that you need.

Classes

Are all back on this week, please make sure you book well in advance, and please remember I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. I do try to be accommodating but if you’re texting, emailing or messaging me around 1 hour before the class is starting then you are going to have to pay for that class.

Before I went on leave, I received 4 cancellations for one class less than one hour before start time, that was half the class just disappeared – it was not worth me running the class but of course, it was too late to cancel for those who were attending.

Late cancellations really do affect my business, and life is tough for small businesses right now.

Breathwork Sessions

My next Breathwork session is going to be all about ‘Connection’, to yourself, to others around you and to the wider planet, universe, multiverse…!

Connection to yourself is key to helping with addictions, improving bad habits and generally sorting out your life goals.

When I started a regular Breathwork practice this is what really helped me to give up alcohol and continue to do so, so much so, that it doesn’t even register on my radar now. Being away at Easter with friends proved to me, even more, that I can now be in pubs, be around people who are drinking, and I’m not even tempted.

So, this Breathwork session will be all about connecting to yourself to help improve your mindset around your own habits, and the ripple out effect of that. (Actually, I did notice, that all my friends were not drinking as much and were much more conscious of what they were drinking – interesting, eh?)

It’s on 19th April, 6.30-pm. There’s only 2 spaces left – so if you want to book your spot, please do so here.

Next Gathering

Dawn and I have got a date for our next ‘Gathering’.

These are super popular 3-hour events, where we use Cacao, Breathwork, Shamanic Journeying and Ecstatic Dance (with me on the decks), to take your vibration to the next level.

Our last one was a-ma-zing! It was all about Dragon Energy.

This one is maybe a little bit gentler, but we’re bringing in the Elementals and Fae Energy. This will be much more subtle than full on Dragon Energy, but will still be powerful and transformative.

It’s on 13th May and you can book your space here.

Earlybird is available until 22nd April – so don’t delay.

Ok, that’s me – I have a ‘Core Challenge’ lined up for May, but I’ll send you news about that in a separate email over the weekend.

Have a great week everyone, and don’t forget to let me know how you get on with your mantra’s.
